Tirzepatide is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist developed by Eli Lilly. It's sold as Mounjaro (approved for type 2 diabetes) and Zepbound (approved for chronic weight management). By activating both the GIP and GLP-1 receptor pathways, tirzepatide has shown greater average weight loss in clinical trials compared to single-pathway GLP-1 medications. See also: dual agonist.
